Question: Why is Western Red Cedar more expensive?
Answer: Western Hemlock was chosen as the standard due to the fact that it is hypo-allergenic. Western Red Cedar is offered for those who want it but it is manufactured on a special run which drives up the cost.
Question: Can I lay down in my infrared sauna room?
Answer: You can lie down in some sizes but it is not recommended. Your body absorbs the infrared rays so if you lie down down you are keeping half your body from being exposed to the rays.
Question: How long does it take to assemble an infrared sauna?
Answer: It usually takes about a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.
Question: Do you have any endorsements from Doctors or Experts for your infrared sauna products?
Answer: We do not use endorsements because there are financial arrangements that are expected through the affiliation. Most doctors are tied to that product financially just like all sauna dealers/manufacturers are tied financially to the saunas that they sell/make. We believe that a true endorsement should be done by an outside agency that has no link to the product and has done testing on competing products. That would make it a true non-biased endorsement. If endorsements are important to you, you should ask for a statement in writing that there is not financial gain by the third party.
Question: Is infrared harmful to your health?
Answer: Infrared is a safe and common way to transfer heat. Infrared is how the sun heats the earth; it has been used to keep newborn babies warm; and will not cause any harm when used in the infrared sauna application.
Question: Shouldn’t my carbon infrared sauna get hotter at a much quicker pace? It seems like it takes too long.
Answer: If starting at 74 degrees, our Carbon IR rooms will reach about 120-130 degrees at the end of an hour. When using an infrared sauna, the air temperature in the room is not the most relevant factor (like it is in traditional saunas). As in all infrared saunas, the micron level is most important, not the temperature level of the air. The hotter the surface temperature of the heating elements, the wavelength becomes shorter and less beneficial.
Question: Is it possible to get the frosted glass on the models that do not normally include it? (ie. 1 person and 2 person rooms)
Answer: No, unfortunately the frosted glass is not available on the 1 & 2 person rooms.
Question: The infrared sauna that I tried at the home show was very hot. Isn’t this better?
Answer: A lot of cheap units at the home shows give you a false sense of operation. The air temperatures in these sauna rooms get very warm causing you to think that the room is superior to others because the affect that the heat is having on your body (a lot like a traditional rock sauna). The other factor is that you are fully clothed in the home show sauna. When you have a room producing intense heat from the infrared emitters/heaters, you virtually make the infrared wave length useless and/or less beneficial. Your body gets the most beneficial wavelength from an emitter with a cooler surface temperature. Ironically, hotter is not necessarily better in a far infrared sauna.
Question: What is the difference in energy consumption between a ceramic emitter and the carbonflex emitter?
Answer: Energy consumption is not a form of the emitter, but of the wattage used. Wattage on the saunas is less than 1700 watts (thus the 15 amp plug) and on the larger units is roughly 2000 watts (thus the 20 amp plug). Thus, the energy consumption is probably about the same if they are comparing 15 amp plug in to 15 amp and 20 amp to 20 amp. In short, you should not be able to tell the energy consumption on your electric bill.
Question: "I've heard that cedar rooms release a dangerous gas into the sauna..."
Answer: Not true. In practical use, there are no known issues with cedar. In fact it's a great wood. Some people do however have reactions to the smell and thus, need the hypo-allergenic Hemlock, which we sell.
Question: How easy is it for a customer to obtain replacement parts for IR rooms when they go bad?
Answer: All replacement parts are available and can be shipped in a timely manner. Current shipping times vary.
